A short (~20 minute per playthrough) weight-gain-fetish Visual Novel about your relationship with your sweet-but-ditzy girlfriend, and her doomed attempts at losing a few pounds.

Being much more streamlined than my other Ren'py VN offer, "Unstable Frienemies", A Unique Diet has essentially one 'static' story branching out into a large number of endings that depend on how you've treated your girlfriend over the course of your time together.

If you even vaguely enjoy this game, please check out the excellent game that largely inspired it, Anonymoose's Overstuffed, which is also playable in browser or downloadable.

Written and coded by one person, audio from the Creative Commons space, with images hammered into being with the use of AI tools.

I recommend downloading the executable, as A Unique Diet tracks a lot of data on what you've seen in game before and which endings you've found, and while that works fine with the downloaded version I can't promise your particular browser / OS combo will handle those long-term considerations appropriately.

Why isn't this game visible when I use the "weight-gain" tag in the search box when browsing for games?

It probably has something to do with Itch's recent change in how they list games with adult content, if I had to guess. Glad you found it anyway, though!

You might want to check the weightgaming dot com wiki, it's doing a pretty good job tracking on weight-gain games, listed or otherwise.

Honestly, I can't get the "Canon" ending. :'(

Aww.
May I suggest being real supportive, then saving at the beginning of the last Part? The endings are decided by (mild spoilers follow!)

1 - How many times you've upset Mary-Lynn slices the pie between possible Jerk / Average / Good Boyfriend endings, all-but-two-of-which occur during the Part that starts with the swimsuit discussion.

2 - The choices in that last part determine the ending from the list of Jerk/Average/Good endings available.

So be patient and supportive, then save at the beginning of the swimsuit discussion. If you can't intuit how the hint from the gallery applies, you can still do a little brute-force work to get it.

I got all endings. Pretty fun game to play if you have some time to kill.

This game is quite interesting to say. The endings and choices determineds Mary Lynn's happiness. Also the bad endings can be a little darker than the ones in Unstable Frenemies. But this game has been fun to play with.

Hmm, I want to say I like it, but this one is somehow kind of... darker than Unstable Frienemies. Lots of pitfalls for dealing with her, and it feels like the rewards for her being happy are down paths filled with being dishonest with her. Or rather, being in any way honest with her tends to get her to spiral, hate you, and/or wind up miserable.

But hey, the topic itself is complicated, isn't it? It's a fun little diversion. Looking forward to the next one!

Fair criticism!
I tried to write it closer to "biting your tongue" than being dishonest, but there's certainly room to argue that I'm splitting hairs with that distinction.

Glad you enjoyed it! 'Fun little diversion' was what I was aiming for with this one.
